The largest sports magazine in the United States is debuting in October, according to PRNewswire.
Athlon Sports Communication, based in Nashville, Tenn. is planning on launching a monthly publication-cleverly titled Athlon Sports-later this year with a 7 million circulation via news dailies. The future magazine is promising profiles of America’s athletic elite, preseason IQ from American sports editors and national compelling sports stories, too.
According to the press release, Chuck Allen, CEO of Athlon, is hoping to reach more than 25 million sports fans every month. To further prove its future success, Athlon is joining forces with Stephen Duggan, previous CEO of Alpha Media Group and publisher of several magazines and Jerry Lyles, who previously was senior vice president at Publishing Group of America. The two will be president of Athlon Media and senior vice president of publisher relations, respectively.
