Paralysis often kicks in right after social media is adopted as a concept within an organization.
Though most people tend to see the value in attending the social media party, there is a fair amount of hesitation on how to act once you arrive.
Organizations are increasingly looking for guidelines when it comes to creating their rules of social media engagement, but there is no owner’s manual that will satisfy all the “what-if” scenarios you can dream up. There are no hard and fast rules.
But the good news is you don’t need guidelines. You probably already know how to act.
The “rules” of social media are easier than you may think:
If you wouldn’t say it when answering a phone call at work…
If you wouldn’t say it in a meeting…
If you wouldn’t say it in a job interview…
You probably shouldn’t say it in social media.

The tools are new, the rules are not.
Too funny! It looks like fun to work in your office
@bill: Exactly.
@Skylar: We have some good times…especially when it’s a Friday and the camera is on!
Makes sense. Why would the rules of business change just because it’s a new medium? Right on.
